We think of ourselves as a happy, achieving, ambitious school and visitors to the school have frequently remarked upon the positive and friendly atmosphere.

Our aim is to create an ethos within the school environment where pupils, parents and staff work together in partnership to provide the highest possible standard of education for all pupils.  Our school values of Honesty, Respect, Kindness and Enthusiasm are at the heart of all aspects of school life.

The children enjoy discussing our school values and are very passionate about them. Our values are displayed throughout the school and in each classroom. Value certificates are handed out to the children during assemblies.  We have a fantastic school values song, ‘Small School, Big Dreams’,

and the pupils enjoy coming together during assembly time to sing the song.

All staff work hard to ensure the values are referred to in class and in the playground as well as being taught through Health and Wellbeing lessons.

We are an educationally focused establishment, and we encourage parents to play as active a role as possible in their child's education.

Elie Primary School enjoys excellent community relationships, particularly with Elie Sports Club who kindly allow the school access to their facilities during the summer months.

We have a very active and pro-active parent council and PTA who support our school throughout the year in a variety of ways including organising our Christmas Fayre, hosting fundraising events, offering afterschool opportunities such as Running Club or trips to the community cinema.

Elie Primary School serves the villages of Elie, Earlsferry and Kilconquhar and the surrounding rural area. The original building dating from the 1880s. The original architecture is of great interest and despite its age, provides a warm and bright learning environment for our pupils. The original building is made of sand stone, but the extensions are of brick construction.

There are three classrooms in total.  Currently, one is used as a classroom for our P2-P7 class, one as a quiet learning and teaching area and one which functions as a multi-purpose/storage room.

We have an old and beautiful central hall which is used for lunches, P.E. during winter time and whole school events such as assemblies.  All rooms are fitted with Wi-Fi and we enjoy great flexibility in using our laptops throughout the whole school.

The grounds are both extensive and attractive and comprise both tarmac and grass areas. We have an exciting play area to the rear of the school, commonly known as the "Grassie", comprising a set aside wildlife area and wooden activity equipment, chosen by the Pupil Council.

We also have a full-sized football pitch which we use for athletics and for the annual Sports Day.

We are fortunate to also have a poly-tunnel that is utilised by our Gardening Club.

Pupils and adults who have mobility difficulties have limited access to the following areas of the school: The Main Entrance and Room 2.

School Uniform

At Elie Primary we actively encourage all pupils to wear school uniform. We believe it promotes inclusion and equality, provides safe, sensible attire for school and creates a positive impression of the school in the community and beyond.

In partnership with pupils and parents we have a dress code which consists of:

• red sweatshirt/cardigan
• white polo shirt/shirt
• black/navy skirt/trousers

Children do not have to wear the school-branded uniform.  Plain white polo shirts and red jumpers/cardigans are absolutely fine.

Physical Education

Your child will need a PE or gym kit. This should include:

• t-shirt
• shorts/jogging bottoms
• gym shoes
• hoodie
• socks if your child is wearing tights

Football shirts/strips are not permitted.
