Dear Parents and Guardians,
Crossgates Primary School and Nursery is situated in a former mining village with a mixed catchment of private and local authority housing in central Fife. The school roll is currently stable at approximately 230 in our mainstream classes which are currently organised into 9 classes. We have 75 Nursery places available. Some of these places are reserved for the Under 3 provision.
The current leadership team includes the Headteacher, Mrs Alison Green and Mrs Gillian Waddell and Mrs Paterson, Depute Headteachers. There are 12 teachers, a 0.4 Peripatetic Nursery teacher, a 0.7 Support for Learning teacher, 14 Early Years Officers, 5 Pupil Support Assistants and a School Support Assistant.
At Crossgates we offer a consistent and positive learning environment where your child will feel secure, happy and engaged in their learning. This booklet intends to give you a range of information about our school and the service we provide for our families. Every aspect in the life of our school is based on our six shared school values. They are Respect, Responsibility, Fulfilling Potential, Honesty, Teamwork and Kindness. These shared values underpin the ethos of our school and are evidenced in everything we say and everything we do here at Crossgates PS.
We work closely as a staff team and with our colleagues in Beath cluster to develop our learning and teaching strategies across our continually developing curriculum. We have very high expectations of ourselves and the children and constantly strive for excellence in each and every classroom in our school.
We value the pupil voice greatly and ensure that children have regular opportunities to make decisions about the life and work of the school through a number of school committees and focus groups.
Parents and carers are always welcome in our school as we firmly believe that it is through this meaningful partnership with our families that we can help to fully support our pupils and encourage them to achieve their potential. School newsletters, Facebook page and updates on our school website will keep you informed regarding the school's activities and future events. We also use SEESAW, a digital App, to keep connected and share learning with our parents.
We have a strong tradition of parental & community involvement in Crossgates which has enabled us to make progress in all areas of development and will help in future years to come. We have a very active Family Forum which meets regularly and organises a number of events to support the school.
