Colinsburgh Primary School

Our aim is to create an ethos within the school environment where pupils, parents and staff work together in partnership to provide the highest possible standard of education for all pupils.  Our school values of Honesty, Kindness, Respect and Responsibility are at the heart of all aspects of school life.

The children enjoy discussing our school values and are very passionate about them. Our values are displayed throughout the school and in each classroom. Value certificates are handed out to the children during assemblies.  We have a fantastic school values song, ‘Everybody Matters, Every Step Counts’, and the pupils enjoy coming together during assembly time to sing the song.

All staff work hard to ensure the values are referred to in class and in the playground as well as being taught through Health and Wellbeing lessons.

We are an educationally focused establishment, and we encourage parents to play as active a role as possible in their child's education.
Colinsburgh Primary School enjoys excellent community relationships including Galloway Library, Colinsburgh Town Hall, Colinsburgh Community Cinema and Balcarres Estate.
We have supportive Parent Council who support our school throughout the year through their fundraising events, community events, uniform exchanges and offering refreshments when we host the cluster running event.

Colinsburgh Primary School serves the village of Colinsburgh and a large area of the surrounding farmlands and hamlets.

The main school building, built in 1875, has 3 classrooms, a main office and a dining hall. The town hall, next to the school, is used for indoor P.E and hosting larger school events.  The school is currently operating as a two class school with a P1-4 and a P5-7 class.

All rooms within the main school building are fitted with Wi-Fi and we enjoy great flexibility in using our laptops throughout the whole school.

The school has a concrete playground with a large activity cube, agility bars, a climbing wall, a basketball net, a small garden, some raised beds and an outbuilding to store equipment.  Staff and pupils enjoy regular visits to the local parks and woodland in the village.

Pupils and adults who have mobility difficulties have limited access to the following areas of the school: Room 2 (upstairs).

Morning Break - 10.40 – 11.00am

Lunch - 12.35 – 1.20pm

Home time - 3.00pm

School Uniform

At Colinsburgh Primary we actively encourage all pupils to wear school uniform. We believe it promotes inclusion and equality, provides safe, sensible attire for school and creates a positive impression of the school in the community and beyond.
In partnership with pupils and parents, we have a dress code which consists of:

• navy sweatshirt/cardigan
• white polo shirt/shirt
• black/navy skirt/trousers
• School jumpers and polo shirts are available directly from our online suppliers: Border Embroideries
• Children do not have to wear the school-branded uniform.  Plain white polo shirts and navy blue jumpers are absolutely fine.

Physical Education

Your child will need a PE or gym kit. This should include:

• t-shirt
• shorts/jogging bottoms
• gym shoes
• hoodie
• socks if your child is wearing tights

Football shirts/strips are not permitted.
