Coaltown of Balgonie Primary School was opened in August 1889. It is a village school with two campuses. The main building is at the end of School Road and it sits in a countryside environment. The main school building is surrounded by fields and is adjacent to the public play park. It houses 5 classrooms, toilet block, staff resource base and the usual office provision. The annexe building is the old Miners' Welfare Institute at the top of School Road and houses a classroom along with the kitchen and dining/gym hall. We have picnic benches and a trim trail on our grassed area and the tarmac areas have playground games painted on. There is a football pitch at the bottom of the playground. A garden has been created at the annexe and we hope to establish an outside classroom at the back. As part of our ongoing eco commitment there has also been extensive planting of trees, hedges and flowers. Accessibility There is disabled access to both campuses.

School Uniform

We encourage the wearing of school uniform believing that it promotes a sense of identity and pride in the school. Nearly all our pupils wear the school uniform which consists of:

• royal blue or black sweatshirts with the school logo
• white, black or royal blue polo shirt
• white blouse or shirt
• black  trousers or skirts
• school tie
• black fleece with the school logo.
• blue or yellow check summer dresses
