SCHOOL ETHOS

At Capshard Primary School our purpose is to provide a safe, happy and stimulating learning environment for all our pupils. We encourage all our pupils to believe in themselves and to always be the very best that they can be. Hard work and effort is valued and pupils are expected to be aware of where they are in their learning and what they need to do to develop and improve. Classes hold regular class meetings where everyone is given the opportunity to have a voice and to contribute in some way to class planning and to the wider life of the school.

Our school values of Honesty, Respect and Responsibility have been agreed and influence everything that we do.

Our work through the Eco Schools Programme and Rights Respecting School Award Scheme encourage everyone to have a voice and to participate in their class, in the life of the school, the community and the wider world.

We expect a high standard of behaviour from all. Our relationships are strong and we hope that when school and parents work together any difficulties can be solved.

Where behaviour falls below expectations staff will discuss this with pupils and will be clear about the changes that need to happen. Where disagreements occur between pupils a restorative approach will be taken to solve the problem.

Achievement and attainment are celebrated in classes and at whole school events. Children are nominated for Ace Awards at School Assemblies, these recognise pupils who have been successful learners, effective contributors, responsible citizens or confident individual.

We expect that all children will wear their uniform each day as this contributes to our sense of community.

We work with a range of partners to provide a broad education for all of our pupils.

Capshard Primary was opened in the early 1970s.

The school is built round a central quadrangle. The Ground Floor contains 4 classrooms and a very large multi purpose Hall which is used for Drama, PE and School Lunches.

The upper floor has additional classrooms, resource areas a Library and a Computer Suite.

The Nursery is situated in hutted accommodation in the school playground.

Adults and pupils who have mobility difficulties can access the ground floor of the school.

School hours

Morning: 9.00a.m - 12.35p.m.

Lunch: 12.35p.m. - 1.25p.m.

Afternoon: 1.25p.m. - 3.05p.m.

Morning Interval: 10.40 a.m. - 10.55 a.m.

Nursery hours

6hr term time: 9.00a.m- 3.00pm.

Morning Session 52 Week- 8.00am- 12.40pm

Afternoon Session 52 week- 1.20pm- 6.00pm

School Uniform

We encourage children to wear school uniform at all times. The uniform consists of Royal Blue sweatshirt. Royal Blue or White Polo Shirt. Grey or Black Trouser or Skirt. Polo Shirts and Sweatshirts, embroidered with the school crest can be bought locally.

Children are expected to bring an appropriate PE kit of shorts, gym shoes or trainers and a tee shirt.  Football strips should not be worn as part of the PE kit.

Please ensure that all pieces of school uniform and PE kit are clearly named to help us to return lost and misplaced items of clothing.
