Anstruther Primary School

Here at Anstruther Primary School we strive to provide a nurturing environment and support learning progress.  Our values are very much embedded in the life of the school: Care, Contribute, Succeed.  Our vision for the school is currently being reviewed with contributions from families and staff.  Children will select the vision statement for the school early in session 2023/24.

We know the importance of relationships and try our best to maintain positive relationships with children, families and the team.  Getting to know our children, understanding their development needs and celebrating their needs is key in getting it right.  Our team work collaboratively, to ensure learning progress.

We benefit from living on the coast in a rural area; creating outdoor learning opportunities is as aspect of learning we want to build on.  We have good partnership working and again are building these opportunities back to enhance the learners' experiences.

Anstruther Primary enjoys lovely views in spacious pleasant grounds. It opened in August 2003 and is funded by Public Private Partnership (PPP). It is currently the only primary school in Anstruther and has a catchment area for the whole of Anstruther, Cellardyke, Kilrenny and the surrounding area.

The pupils enjoy a full range of modern facilities within the building. There are 14 primary classrooms and a beautiful well resourced nursery complex. In addition we have a large assembly/gym hall, changing facilities, medical suites, music room, IT suite, 2 libraries, parent rooms and a dining hall. We also enjoy shared use of the Sports Hall and campus facilities with the Waid Academy.

Daily Timetable

• Breakfast Club: 8:00am-8:45pm (costs 55p per day)
• Morning: 9.00am-12.35pm
• Interval: 10.40am-10.55am / Lunch: 12.35pm-1.25pm
• Afternoon: 1.25pm-3.05pm
• Nursery Hours - Morning Session 8.00am-12.40am / Afternoon Session 13.20pm-18.00pm

School Uniform

It is encouraged that all pupils wear school uniform. The uniform is Black skirt/trousers, White Polo shirt, Red Sweatshirt, Red/Black Fleece. The following items of clothing should never be worn to school : -Clothing that could cause offence in terms of racism, inappropriate language, sexism, anti-religious symbolism or political slogans or carries inappropriate advertising e.g. alcohol, tobacco etc. - Clothing that is a health and safety risk such as loose fitting clothing and dangling earrings and high heel shoes. The wearing of denims during the school day is not appropriate, however, we do have a number of dress down days when pupils can express their individuality. Please also note that no item that could inflict damage to any person or property should be brought to school. PE - Children should have a gym bag with indoor shoes, shorts and t-shirt. In the interest of health and safety no jewellery should be worn to PE. If your child's ears have recently been pierced and studs cannot be removed, please ensure that their ears are taped for the PE lesson.
