Fife has huge potential and the council has an excellent track record. We're part of major regional economic partnerships to the north and south - and Dunfermline was recently crowned a city! There are lots of things, old and new, that put Fife on the map, and which our diverse communities are rightly proud of.
But we faced significant social and financial challenges before the Covid pandemic - and these are growing. Our public services need to be fit for the future, sustainable and co-produced with communities if we are to make Fife a successful, confident and fairer place to live, work and visit.
We’re redesigning our services around the different needs of Fife's people and places, to help us achieve our long-term aims and recover from ongoing post-pandemic challenges. We need to get children back into schools, close the attainment gap and ensure our young people can all reach positive destinations. And we need to better connect all the public services supporting families to prevent people tipping into crisis.

Whoever takes on this role must be able to quickly build trust and confidence, within the council and with other stakeholders. We're looking for an inspirational and empathetic leader. A Chief officer who will commit themself to supporting and developing staff; to collaborating with our partners and communities; and to working with the council's executive and wider leadership team as they implement the next phase of transformational change in public services.
